I agree with Mr. Bassett that if the American government did release actual evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence, the collective mind of planet Earth would be blown. It would single- handedly be the most important discovery and finding made by our species on this piece of rock we call Earth.
I appreciate the UFO community’s zeal for official Disclosure. I truly do. That being said, I would also ask Mr. Bassett to take pause, and inform his community of “Disclosurists” to gird their loins for the very real possibility that there is no evidence, bodies, space ships, or artifacts to disclose.
Could it be possible that ET has slipped the government’s grasp as much as it has the public’s? Sure, it’s possible. Could it be that the American government has been bested by a technologically advanced species that has mastered space/time travel, and would not screw up so royally as to crash their ship(s) into our planet? Sure, it’s possible.
If, and it is a big massive huge IF, ET has come to Earth purposefully to make contact, which is possible, why would it choose to have dealings with the United States of America? This may sound a little offensive, and I do not mean it to be, but to suggest that the United States would be their first choice for contact is a little dubious. The United States may hold significant power, politically and militarily, however, power is not tantamount to intelligence, wisdom, or civil and cultural development. If ET contact has occurred, we really should be petitioning a country like Finland or Iceland for their UFO/ET Files- those governments have their act together.
I’m being glib. Please forgive me.
I just hope that the Disclosurists are prepared to accept a very real possibility; that our world governments have nothing solid to disclose. I would love nothing more than for actual evidence to be presented in regards to the UFO question- I would be ecstatic. I am also being a realist. While it may be possible that there may be real evidence held by the United States, there is also a very real possibility that there is no evidence whatsoever.
The line between truth and belief is thin, but it is there. I have investigated a good number of UFO cases, met with witnesses, and done my “research” homework. I have the utmost respect for all the people who make up the UFO community; they are dedicated to finding the answers to the mystery. I become concerned, however, when overzealous belief numbs the brain to critical thought, rationality, and logic. I am also concerned when so-called “experts”, who hold significant sway in the community, dangle the alluring carrot of “UFO/ET Truth” before an audience that they know is going to be convinced, without question, that it is mana from heaven, not think critically about it, and blindly chase it round and round.
Please view the Mirror article and Mr. Bassett’s claims regarding Disclosure for what they are, ideas which may or may not be possible, simple speculation, and nothing more. Please, go out and buy books on the subject, read blogs, listen to podcasts- but never walk away 100% convinced. Think about what is being said, and read the critics, skeptics and debunkers as well. Leave your mind open to multiple possibilities in regards to the truth.
Maybe the American government and Mr. Obama do have oodles of evidence in regards to the UFO/ET question; or maybe there is no evidence and the Disclosure movement is leading all of us down the rabbit hole to absurdity. Be critical, go over the evidence, and read the multiple opinions and claims made by “experts”, skeptics, debunkers and even your mother-in-law. Ufology must move beyond belief and speculation in order for it to survive the insanity that has temporarily invaded its mind. I do not mean debunking. I do not mean hateful close-minded skepticism. I simply mean critical thinking.
I just hope no one is using Disclosure to scam an easy buck.
Did that last part come off as glib? Good.
